One of the most publicised adventurers and a Panerai ambassador for around two decades, Mike Horn has been known to push the limits of his gears – watch included – to levels that you and I would probably never dare to imagine. Should his polar expeditions, high-altitude climbs or even underwater explorations be considered a testimony to the resistance of perfect replica Panerai watches to extreme conditions? Horn’s latest collab is based on the well-known best copy Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro – a fancy Italian word to tell you that its case measures 44mm (things always sound better in Italian…) – meaning the brand’s range of dive and exploration watches, distinguished by the presence of a rotating bezel, over what’s otherwise a classic Luminor design. While we have seen advanced and complex watches made with Horn in the past, this one is reassuringly classic and more purposeful.
As said, the PAM01676 is classic dive high quality replica watches territory with its 44mm stainless steel case, with a thickness of about 13mm and fully brushed surfaces. In line with previous Horn editions, this new Submersible QuarantaQuattro features multiple blue accents, starting with the ceramic insert over the unidirectional bezel – and being a Submersible, there’s the indispensable 60-minute scale and lumed pearl. The crown, well protected under the trademark locking device, is coated in blue rubber – good for grip, maybe less for durability. The rest is no-nonsense diver, with a sapphire crystal on top, a screwed solid steel caseback and a water-resistance rated at 300m – even though Panerai indicates that it is tested to “a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value”.
The dial of this Mike Horn Edition PAM01676 comes in a blue, vertically brushed colour with several yellow accents – a recurring colour in previous UK cheap super clone watches in the Mike Horn series. Other than the colour scheme, the most distinctive elements are the applied markers, which are wider by 20% in diameter than on a normal Submersible QuarantaQuattro for better low-light visibility and paired with Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 12 o’clock. Also, the date window, usually found at 3 o’clock, has been removed, and the small seconds hand is bright yellow.
Under the closed back engraved with Mike Horn’s signature is the calibre P.900, the shop replica Panerai watches with movement which shares architecture within the Richemont Group (Baumatic, IWC 32xxx). This automatic calibre stores 3 days of energy in its large single barrel, runs at a 4Hz frequency and is equipped with a stop-seconds function.
